Banner Making with the Essendon Cheer Squad
GLoBALL groups are invited to assist the Essendon Cheer Squad in making the banner. A key focus of this activity is enabling GLoBALLers from other cultures and Cheer Squad members to learn more about each other in an informal and enjoyable setting.

You may also have the opportunity to be a little bit famous! Sometimes there are spaces for GLoBALLers to present the banner on the ground with the Cheer Squad at the game.

The Long Walk
GLoBALLers will be invited to participate in The Long Walk before the Dreamtime Game at the MCG. This special event starting with activities at Federation Square happens only once a year. The Long Walk is a charity inspired by former Essendon champion Michael Long's walk to Canberra to get the lives of Indigenous people back on the national agenda. Don’t worry, you won’t need to walk to Canberra – just do a symbolic walk from Federation Square to the MCG! The Long Walk advocates for Indigenous wellbeing and we believe this can be achieved by raising awareness and gathering support for Indigenous leadership projects.

Designed so that ‘Everyone can play’; Recreational Football (also known as Rec Footy) is less physically demanding, requires minimal time commitment, no risk of serious injury with a major emphasis on fun and safety. Played in a friendly social environment, the game enables people of all ages and abilities to participate in male, female or mixed competitions. This activity is not organised by the Essendon Football Club. Interested GLoBALLers can contact the Rec Footy representative in Melbourne to organise their own games.
